What is this blog?

This blog has been created to give extra activities to Sonia's bilingual students from San Martin High School in Talayuela (Cáceres, Spain).
The book we use in our English class is Voices, published by Macmillan. This is the reason why we follow its topics although the activities that appear on our blog are extra material created by us or taken by different sources.

Hero

Have you watched a film called 'Hero'? If you haven't, you can watch the trailer now.

What kind of film is it? Can you name the main characters and write a sentence to describe their role and actions?

Now we are going to work in two separate groups. You must choose five important scenes to summarise the film. Think about: situation, location, time, characters and how they feel at that time.

On this stage, you must play the five mute scenes as if they were five photos. You cannot move. I will clap to change form one fixed picture to the next.

Urban Tribes Computer Presentation.

Urban Tribes

Today we’re going to prepare computer presentations on urban tribes. In this pair activity you will have to find out information about them and create a powerpoint presentation or alike.

Deadline: Friday, October 17.

Follow these steps:

1. Research on books or internet before starting to create your presentation.

2. Organise the information.

3. Now you can start your PowerPoint Presentation or alike. If it’s the first time you do one, watch online tutorials. Here you have some examples:

4. Order of your slides (Don’t forget to save your work every so often):

First slide:

  • Write the name of your urban tribe.
  • Add an image.

Second slide:

  • Describe its clothes and physical appearance (Use the present simple tense)

Third slide:

  • Describe what they do and its lifestyle. (Use relative sentences).

Fourth slide:

  • Include optional information (e.g. famous people…). Free your creativity to add whatever you think it can be interesting for us.

Fifth slide:

  • Sign your work.

6. Now you have your presentation ready, save it to a memory stick and give it to your teacher. (Deadline: Friday, October 17)

7. All the pairs will show their work  to the rest of the classroom on Monday, October 20.
Don’t forget to prepare your oral presentation.

8. The whole class will choose the best work and it will be uploaded to our blog.

Enjoy your work!
